Thanks for taking a moment to find out about Solar Serpents
As far as I can remember snakes have always been my favorite animal to chase, catch, and keep. Whatever the situation, if there was a snake envolved it was always better. After keeping a few different species most my younger life, in 1999 I bred my first pair of Burmese Pythons. It was such an incredible experience and my passion for keeping and breeding snakes took off. Soon I found myself involved with many different species of pythons. Amoung them, Reticulated, amethystine, woma, balls, blood, etc. I've have also worked with keeping Green Tree, Savu, and ringed pythons. I learned at great amount about the different species I kept from hands on experience, many discussions with other reptile breeders and keepers, and any books or articles I could get my hands on..
Being so involved with snakes I very quickly realized how many neglected reptiles there are. In 2000 and for the next four years, I took on a very involved rescue/rehab program for unwanted and neglected reptiles, taking in everything from baby Sulcatta Tortoises to 18' Reticulated Pythons. After my beautiful daughter was born, time became much more limited and the rescue was turned over to some amazing people here locally.
Over the following years I continued breeding snakes but primarily focused on Ball Pythons. In 2003 I purchased my first Albino Ball Python and my fascination with them continued to grow, as did my collection. I also started including Borneo and Blood Pythons to the collection as I have always loved working with this species. Blood Pythons are amazing animals and are capable of some gorgeous colors and intense patterns.
My wife Marci, who I happily married this summer, is learning more the about the snakes everyday. She is really excited about our projects and is just as dedicated to the snakes as I am while Mayzee our little red-headed daughter is right behind us and also loves every minute she spends with the snakes.
This past year Solar Serpents became a true business getting LLC status and receiving our owning/operating permits for the animals. This was a big and exciting step. With the laws getting seemingly stricter all the time on what kind and how many animals people are allowed to possess, any little victory in the right direction helps the herpetoculture community as a whole.
